Michelle Monaghan's autocratic opening in a pretension purpose carries Trucker--and that's a good thing, since there's not an awful lot function in director-writer James Mottern's 2008 film other than a characters and their relations to themselves and those around them. Monaghan's Diane Ford is a tough cookie, a loner who passes a time with prolonged hauls, complicated drinking, and not-even-one-night stands--if this lady was meddlesome in commitment, she wouldn't have walked out 10 years progressing on her tot son and his father (Benjamin Bratt, good in a singular role). But now her ex is severely ill and his partner has her possess family issues to understanding with, withdrawal Diane to demeanour after 11-year-old Peter for a time being… or maybe longer. There are no surprises in store here, as mom and son, as expected, brew about as good as oil and water. (If this were a competition to establish who is reduction mature, Diane would win in a landslide; incompetent to even call a child by his name--"dude" is a best she can do--she could frequency be reduction maternal and some-more tactless). Anyone who doesn't consider that will change hasn't seen many movies. But a predicted outcome doesn't indispensably obviate enjoying a ride; a performances by Monaghan, immature Jimmy Bennett (as Peter), and Nathan Fillion (as Runner, Diane's celebration friend and would-be lover) are adequate to means a interest, and a film's miss of gaudy tenderness is refreshing. --Sam Graham

Trucker is a DVD film about an independent-minded lorry motorist Diane Ford, accustomed to enjoying a untroubled life noted by one-night adore affairs, tough drinking, and prolonged transport days on a road. But her life changes dramatically when she unexpected has a shortcoming of caring for her eleven-year-old son Peter - whom she has not seen given he was a baby. Peter's father is incapacitated in a hospital; now Diane's life is incited upside down, as she struggles with caring for a child as careful of her as she is of him. Difficult choices distortion forward for her, and she contingency come to grips with a destiny that binds some-more hurdles and pitfalls than she has ever imagined. Tough (but worthy) watch, unclothed skeleton DVD

This can be one of those films where a reviewer can write paragraphs of element about a narrative, performances, nuances, refinement of emotions, and loads of other smashing stuff, yet when a credits unexpected seemed we had to wait a day to clerk some thoughts.
A character/performance film all a way, with Michelle Monaghan being given her initial possibility during carrying a film - and yet perplexity we consider she did an superb job. The story follows a categorical gal as she trucks for a living, unburdened by any romantic or prolonged tenure earthy relationships. She is unexpected given a shortcoming of carrying to take caring of her disloyal boy, final seen when he was an infant. The rest (and majority) of a film covers their new attribute and a pitfalls they both face with her highway life. Very dry during times, yet some genuine moments and clever showings make for a plain film. Would have favourite to see some-more occur with certain roles (I favourite Serenity so it was good to see Fillion) yet we suspect a finale had to be ambiguous.
The design clarity is normal during times, transparent in a few outside spots and a sound is a diseased 5.1 with many all destined by a core channel. The supplements are intensely diseased and should not have even been added:
* Actress Prepares for her Role, reduction than 2 minutes. A song montaged slip uncover of Michelle walking around a lorry stop - forgettable.
* Behind a Scenes Slideshow, reduction than a minute. Same thing - forgettable.
Would have hoped for some stellar supplements from Monterey as we am a large fan of their work (especially Humble Pie, Local Color and The Village Barbershop) yet this will have to mount alone as a impression film. 4 stars for Michelle yet 0 for anything else.

Trucker is a kind of film that explaining a sum of to someone who hasn't seen it, creates it sounds like a clichéd mess. It's not. It has oodles of moments that could have been secretly tuned and resulted in scenes that have us rolling a eyes; yet as they are rubbed with care, a eyes are instead merged to a screen.
The upsetting phone call usually as characters travel in a doorway with happy faces; a impulse where dual best friends are repelled to learn they have feelings for one another even yet we know they do after usually dual mins with them; and of march a over a tip "I adore you" impulse between a dual categorical characters, all come to mind.
Trucker deals with all 3 of these overly abused cinematic scenarios, as good as large others. But right when we are disposition on them, awaiting them do accurately what we've seen those moments do in a million other movies; Trucker sidesteps with them, and instead has us tumble over unexpectedly. We're smiling as we stand behind adult to a feet.
Some moments rip we apart, and my eyes were severe with tears for a good third of a film during least. It's put together brilliantly generally when deliberation that this is author and executive James Mottern's initial picture. With any bit of movie-magic luck, it will be distant from his last.

And after all, she doesn't adore him. She creates certain he knows this, and that she didn't wish to have him.
